Thank you for participating in the Fall Meeting 2010 of the Swiss Chemical Society

On behalf of the Swiss Chemical Society (SCS) and the Organizing Committee, we would like to thank all participants to the 2010 Fall Meeting for a wonderful meeting.

With nearly six hundred presentations (posters, contributed and invited talks), the Fall Meeting offered graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and senior scientists from academia and industry the opportunity to share the results of their research.

As in previous years, we had a number of invited lectures presented by distinguished scientists such as Prof. Steven V. Ley of Cambridge University (Paracelsus Award Lecture), and Prof. Sivaguru Jayaraman of North Dakota State University (Grammaticakis-Neuman Award Lecture). Other invited lectures were given in the Parallel Sessions (see Scientific Program). For the traditional Inorganic and Coordination Chemistry Minisymposium, Profs. Ian Manners (Bristol), Karl Wieghardt (MPI für Bioanorganische Chemie, Mühlheim), and Philip P. Power (UC Davis) delivered three very inspiring lectures.

At the Commercial Exhibition and Job Fair twenty companies presented their products and services, or provided information on career opportunities.

We are grateful to the Swiss Chemical Industry for its continued sponsorship and expression of interest in the academic research activities. For the first time, all of the eight Parallel Sessions had an endowment (see Scientific Program). Other sponsors made very generous general financial contributions (Givaudan, Lonza, Swiss Academy of Sciences), or financed the awards for the best posters and best oral presentations (DSM, Metrohm Foundation). The complete list of sponsors is provided here.

Finally, we would like to thank for all the help and assistance we obtained before and during the meeting. Particular thanks go to the forty PhD and post-doctoral students of the ETH Zurich Department of Chemistry who helped at the event in various functions (assistants to the session chairs, registration- and info-desks, etc.), to the Science City Project Organization, the SV Catering, and the ETH Hönggerberg infrastructure services.

Following the tradition of alternating locations, the next Fall Meeting will be held at the ETH Lausanne on September 9, 2011. In 2012 the meeting will be held again at ETH Zürich.

We look forward to seeing you at ETH Zürich in 2012!
